madphase v1.4.1 — Native Linux playback and editing reliability

Linux gains native Vulkan presentation, with improvements to audio playback, automatic tempo detection, popup controls, and text rendering. This update also adds the Energy — Live example and fixes editing, project recovery, color preservation, and exports across platforms.

Native Vulkan canvas and live output

Native presentation is now enabled by default on macOS, Windows, and Linux. On X11 desktops, Linux uses Vulkan for GPU-resident Live canvas playback and Canvas Output that advance independently of editor redraws. Your saved Canvas framework choice is preserved.

Application icon and SVG fonts

The Linux app displays its icon correctly. SVG text and 3D SVG artwork resolve generic font families through installed system fonts, improving text rendering when artwork uses serif, sans-serif, or other generic families.

More reliable imported-track playback

Improved playback and auditioning of imported audio, including starting after loading, seeking, and switching projects. Edited clips follow their trims, fades, and authored gaps more consistently. Pending seeks no longer repeatedly interrupt playback, and tracks stop cleanly at their end.

Steadier automatic live tempo

Automatic live tempo detection checks the consistency of detected beats before changing its tempo lock, reducing spurious jumps while allowing coherent tempo changes.

Keep open menus clear and usable

Help tooltips no longer open over the frame-rate popover or Add input menu while those controls are open, including when you click immediately after hovering. Tooltips return normally after closing the control. Add input also has improved keyboard focus, Tab navigation, and Escape handling.

Preserve canvas color and complete audio exports

Blank canvases retain their color space when saved and reopened, and still-image and animation-frame exports retain the rendered color space. Exported video audio now covers the full timeline, including trailing silence after a shorter audio track.

Safer project switching and media relinking

Switching projects or examples no longer leaves previous render work interfering with the new composition. Relinking missing media preserves the original trim and timing rather than resetting the authored range.

Energy — Live and corrected Sand timing

Explore Energy — Live, a chrome 3D SVG composition with live audio motion and an optional MIDI scale mapping. The Audio Reactive Cymatic Sand example now carries its Drive and Node Sharpness animation across the full three-second timeline.

Keep Image Correction controls in their own scroll area

The Image Correction histogram and footer stay fixed while the parameters scroll beneath them. Controls no longer bleed into the histogram padding, including in locked and mixed-selection inspectors, and the histogram surround matches the panel surface.

Smoother material and scene preset menus

Material, shape, and environment preset menus scroll vertically, with horizontal cycling available while their trigger is closed. The brand gradient is displayed as madglitch in the palette picker.

Fixed an editor crash when using Alt+[ or Alt+] to select a 3D scene or portal. Preview-mode labels now show the correct scene or portal name, including custom names.

Inspect current live-audio status through MCP

Connected MCP clients can inspect the current live-audio input, tempo, confidence, and capture state without starting capture or changing playback.

Clearer documentation, updates, and account controls

General Documentation and User Guide actions open Overview directly; contextual links keep their specific articles. Update download percentages use stable monospaced figures. Includes account reliability improvements.
